Ques:1 Define democracy. Explain the various functions of state government?

Ans:1 Various function of State Government are:-

1(a)In democracy, the main authority lies with the people.They decide who will come to power.

(b)Once a party comes to power in a state,the government is formed with CM as the actual head of the state government.

(c)The government has various function to perform.Let us see them one by one:-

• The health department
• The education department
• The finance department

2. Participate in debates with the opposition during the debates,the ruling party justify its action to the opposition.The work done by the departments need to be approved by the MLAs. The opposition asks question about of government taken during in there ruling time.

3. Government make new laws for the betterment of the state.In order to do so,the government sometimes need to introduce new laws related to road safety,improved in sanitation,health care system.

4. Hold press conference,press conference are done to inform the public about the decisions and action taken by the government.

Ques:2 Explain the electoral procedure of legislative assembly.

Ans:2 1. Each state in India has a legislative assembly.

2. The members of a legislative assembly(MLAs) are elected by the adult members in their respective constituencies.

3. A state is divided into smaller areas and each becomes a constituencies of the legislative assembly. For example:- Haryana has 90 constituencies.

4. In each constituency, people stand for election in the name of different parties like:- Congress,BJP,AAP.

5. This denotes that the MLAs actually belong to different parties. If out of 90 constituencies, BJP wins in 50, BJP gets the majority and becomes the ruling party. Any party wins m more than half of the seats become the ruling party.
