Ques:-1 What is the pattern of water distribution on the earth?
Ans:-1 The total water of the planet can be divided into two categories:-
  1. Saline water:- Saline water contains high percentage of salt dissolved in it.They constitute 97.3% of the earth's total water.Ocean and the dead seas are the main source of saline water. 
  2. Fresh water:- Any natural occuring water other than the ocean and sea water reffered as 'fresh water'.The constitute 2.7% of the earth's total water.Ice sheets,ice caps,glaciers,icebergs:- they form 2% of the water available on the earth.Largest source of fresh water are ground water.
Ques:-2 Define ocean currents and its types.
Ans:-2 Streams of water flowing constantly on the surface of the ocean surface in definite directions are called ocean currents.There are two types of ocean currents:-
  1. Cold currents:- Cold ocean currents originate from the poles or a higher latitude and move to the tropical regions or to a lower latitude.Example:- Labrador ocean currents.
  2. Warm currents:- Warm ocean currents start near equator and move towards the poles. Example:-Gulf stream currents.
